We are recruiting for a specialist SEN school in Didsbury that supports students aged 3-16 with severe and complex needs. The students at this provision require substantial support with communication, mobility, and medical care. We need a Teaching Assistant with practical experience in SEN or health and social care to join the team immediately on a long-term basis.
Job Responsibility:
Work 1:1 and in small groups to support the educational and physical needs of the pupils
Support students with complex needs (ASD, PMLD, and SLD) to access a specifically adapted curriculum
Work alongside teachers and external therapists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Provide essential personal care, including toileting and feeding assistance, maintaining high standards of hygiene and dignity
Use manual handling equipment (hoists and slings) to assist students with limited mobility
Manage resources and equipment to ensure the classroom is safe and accessible
Monitor pupil progress and record data for teacher assessment
Supervise students during break times and lunch, ensuring their safety at all times
Requirements:
Minimum 6 months of work experience in the UK within an SEN school, residential care, or disability nursing setting
Practical experience supporting individuals with ASD, PMLD, or SLD
Experience working with children or young people with medical care needs is essential
Willingness and ability to carry out personal care duties
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or Health and Social Care equivalent) is preferred
Right to work in the UK
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
