Job Description:

An opportunity is available for a skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Eccles. This school has a strong reputation for creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for pupils with complex needs. You will be joining a committed team, working collaboratively to play a key role in the student's educational journey. This is a long-term position with an immediate start for the right candidate.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, and SLD
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt learning materials and create an engaging, accessible curriculum
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to regular progress reviews
  • Foster a positive and safe learning space, supporting pupils with their social, emotional, and communication development
  • Assist with pupil's personal care needs with dignity and respect
  • Manage classroom resources and help prepare for lessons and activities
  • Liaise with a multi-disciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and external professionals, to ensure holistic support for each child
  • Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding, ensuring the welfare of all pupils is paramount

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months of recent experience working in a UK setting with children or young people with complex SEN (ASD, PMLD, SLD)
  • Experience gained in an SEN school or specialist provision within a mainstream school
  • Confidence and experience in providing personal care
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable
  • An enhanced DBS Children and Adult on the update service, or a willingness to apply for a new one
