Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable SEN Teacher to join our team in Plymouth for the final term of the academic year. You will be stepping into a well-supported classroom to provide a nurturing and structured learning environment for students with moderate learning difficulties and social, emotional mental health difficulties and other complex needs. The Summer Term is a vital period of transition and celebration; we need a practitioner who can maintain consistent routines while helping our students prepare for their next steps in September.

Job Responsibility:

  • Tailored Delivery: Deliver highly individualised lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes
  • Relationship Management: Quickly build rapport with students, parents, and a team of experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
  • Assessment & Reporting: Contribute to Annual Reviews and end-of-year reports with precision and insight
  • Transition Support: Lead students through end-of-year transitions, ensuring they feel secure and prepared for change

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • A proven track record of working with complex needs and managing classroom dynamics with patience and creativity
  • Proficiency in (or a willingness to use) alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or ALDs
  • A commitment to supporting the Plymouth community and working collaboratively with local multi-agency teams
