As a Support Tech IV (Semi-Truck Driver), you will join a dynamic team of the company's winning culture by supporting the Mercury Marine values of: Integrity, Customer Centricity, Product & Service Leadership, Sustainability, and Employee Engagement through the production of high quality inboard and outboard marine engines.
Job Responsibility:
Receive work orders from Supervisor, suppliers and customers
Establish own work schedule based on requirements from customers and suppliers
Pick-up and complete paperwork to meet supplier and customer requirements
Check material loaded by material handlers to ensure that tractor-trailer operates in a safe manner
Determine loading sequence and available trailer capacity to meet delivery requirements
Plan daily work schedule to ensure all product, materials and documentation meet the customers’ desired delivery times
Respond to calls and coordinate activities between customers and suppliers
Deliver trailer to designated location
Pick-up second trailer or load and deliver to designated location
Perform various dock duties
Drive gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver goods
Report all defects to supervisors or Group Lead
Check weight of load and if overload conditions exist, report status of situation to supervisor
Exercise care to ensure that product, documentation and delivery time reflect the needs of the customer
Maintain vehicle inspection book per company and D.O.T regulations
Properly complete forms and reports for each function as required
Keep tractor and trailer and/or work area clean for purpose of appearance, safety and operating efficiency
Requirements:
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with air brakes
Federal Medical (Fed Med) card
Ability to perform operator maintenance as per Operator Inspection Report
Ability to utilize radio and cellular phone for scheduling and communication
Ability to check material loaded to ensure safe operation
Ability to plan daily work schedule to meet delivery times
Ability to respond to calls and coordinate activities between customers and suppliers
Ability to perform various dock duties
Ability to drive gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination
Ability to report defects
Ability to check weight of load and report overload conditions
Possess special skill to maintain control of truck while backing, turning, corners and negotiating narrow passageways
Ability to maintain vehicle inspection book per company and D.O.T regulations
Ability to properly complete forms and reports
Observe all company and highway safety rules
