An established and personable independent accountancy practice based in Rayleigh is looking to appoint a Semi Senior Accountant to support its growing portfolio of SME clients. The firm works closely with owner-managed businesses across a variety of sectors, providing hands-on financial support and tailored advice. This is a varied, client-facing position offering exposure across accounts preparation, tax compliance and day-to-day finance operations, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their practical experience within practice.
Job Responsibility:
Preparing management accounts for a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses
Completing bookkeeping assignments and submitting VAT returns
Processing payroll and assisting with workplace pension administration
Preparing personal tax returns
Supporting the preparation of budgets and cashflow forecasts
Reviewing and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
Using cloud-based and desktop accounting software to produce accurate financial reports
Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide day-to-day financial guidance
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment
Studying towards, or completed, AAT Level 4
Working knowledge of software such as Sage and Xero
Sound understanding of core accounting principles
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator with a professional and proactive approach
