This role presents an opportunity to work within a structured and supportive environment dedicated to behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing. We are seeking someone who can facilitate student re-engagement with learning and help vulnerable young people navigate SEMH challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Providing targeted support to KS4 learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, both inside and outside the classroom environment
Assisting teachers with the delivery of lessons and differentiation of resources for core subjects to ensure accessibility for all students
Delivering consistent behaviour support by utilising proven de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations
Working actively to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and a readiness to learn among students who may face barriers to education
Supporting pupils who are working on personalised timetables or accessing off-site provision
Implementing specific strategies outlined in behaviour plans, EHCPs, and risk assessments
Building positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils to foster a sense of safety and belonging
Collaborating professionally with teachers, pastoral leads, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare
Requirements:
Previous experience working within a PRU, SEMH setting, or alternative education provision
A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
Strong capabilities in behaviour management with a calm, consistent approach to discipline
The ability to build rapport quickly with students while maintaining professional boundaries
Confidence when working with challenging behaviours and the resilience to remain composed under pressure
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to apply for one)
Nice to have:
Experience supporting KS4 curriculum in English, Maths, or Science is desirable
Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative approaches is advantageous
