Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting young people who need additional behavioural and emotional support? A specialist SEMH school in Portsmouth is seeking a resilient and supportive Teaching Assistant to join their team from April 2026. The school supports pupils who require structured support, strong boundaries and consistent encouragement to help them succeed both academically and socially. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in behaviour support, youth work, sports coaching or SEND education who wants to make a real difference in a specialist setting.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Working closely with teaching staff to manage behaviour positively
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and structured activities

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong behaviour management and resilience
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training

Nice to have

Experience in behaviour support, youth work, sports coaching or SEND education
