Job Description

We are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This specialist setting provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With small class sizes, a personalised approach to learning and a strong focus on well-being, staff work together to help young people build confidence, resilience and positive outcomes.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs
  • Helping students regulate emotions and develop positive learning behaviours
  • Working closely with teaching staff to deliver structured classroom support
  • Acting as a consistent, positive role model for vulnerable learners
  • Supporting engagement in lessons, routines and school life
  • Building strong, trusting relationships to promote emotional wellbeing and progress

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work or similar)
  • GCSE Maths & English
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs
