Job Description:

Are you the person who notices the quiet child in the corner, not just the loud one at the front? Located in the heart of Colchester, our school is a specialist hub for students aged 5-16 who struggle with emotional regulation and mental health challenges. We are a Trauma-Informed school, meaning we prioritize felt-safety and building relationships over rigid punishment. We believe that every child deserves a fresh start, every single morning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping students identify their "triggers" and find ways to calm down before they reach a breaking point
  • Being the link between the teacher's lesson and the student's reality
  • Using your training (like Team Teach or Step On) to keep the environment safe and positive
  • Tracking small social victories that lead to big life changes

Requirements:

  • Experience working with youth, mental health, or challenging behavior
  • The ability to bounce back after a tough afternoon and show up with a smile the next day
  • A desire to help the young people of Colchester find their way back to learning
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
  • Professional references with clean work history
