We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and skilled 1:1 SEMH Learning Support Assistant's to join our partnered SEN School. You will play a crucial role in helping a pupil with SEMH needs to access learning and thrive in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Students who attend this Special Educational Needs School have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, extreme Challenging Behaviours and/or Childhood Trauma's. Applicants should be comfortable and unphased around challenging & violent behaviours.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage with learning and manage their emotions and behaviours
Implement strategies from the student’s Education Healthcare Plan (EHCP) and Behaviour Support Plan
Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external professionals to ensure consistent support
Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Support the pupil during transitions, breaks, and unstructured times throughout the day
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in school, care, or similar settings) is highly preferred however not essential
A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach
Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
