Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision school. This role involves providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning and build confidence. All pupils have anxiety and SEMH needs, and many are autistic.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Helping pupils engage with their learning and build confidence
  • Supporting approximately 7 pupils in Years 9–11 across the week

Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, anxiety, or autism
  • Confidence working independently in a 1:1 setting
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
