Job Description:

Justteachers is looking for an SEMH Teacher to join a small SEMH setting in Rochdale. You will be teaching vulnerable children who have a social, emotional and mental health needs, following a trauma-informed approach and offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s educational journey. This full-time, long-term position is available to start in January.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach inclusive and engaging lessons to students with various learning difficulties, including cognition and learning, social emotional and mental health, sensory and physical challenges, ASC, ADHD, and other complex needs
  • Collaborate effectively with Teaching Assistants and fellow staff members to ensure the best possible learning environment
  • Build strong relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and motivations
  • Support the ethos of the school and contribute to its inclusive and supportive atmosphere

Requirements:

  • Experience working with adults or children with complex or SEN needs within the last two years, preferably in a care home, residential care setting, SEMH school, or PRU
  • Qualified Teaching Status
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for working effectively within a professional environment
  • Ability to establish rapport with students and demonstrate empathy towards their challenges and behaviours
