Job Description

Justteachers are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher to join a modern, specialist SEMH school in Failsworth. This school supports children and young people aged 4–16 with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, providing a safe, structured and therapeutic learning environment. The role is due to start in June. The successful candidate will work closely with families, maintaining clear, consistent and professional communication with parents and carers regarding pupils' academic progress, emotional development and overall well-being.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver inclusive, engaging and structured lessons that are responsive to pupils' social, emotional and mental health needs, while addressing a range of additional and complex learning differences
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and wider colleagues to provide a consistent, supportive and well-managed learning environment
  • Build positive, trusting and respectful relationships with pupils, taking time to understand individual needs, triggers, strengths and motivators
  • Actively uphold the school's ethos, contributing to a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, valued and supported to succeed

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with children in a school or similar educational environment
  • Strong background in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, as well as those with Autism and other additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and grounded when responding to challenging behaviours or emotionally heightened situations
  • A genuine commitment to promoting children's emotional well-being, learning progress, and overall development
