Job Description

Justteachers is seeking an enthusiastic and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Shepshed from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education, develop positive learning behaviours and achieve their individual goals within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of learners with SEMH needs
  • Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and wellbeing
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust
  • Support pupils in developing emotional resilience, self-confidence and social skills
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate a range of learning abilities and behavioural needs
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for development
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, pastoral teams, parents and external agencies
  • Contribute to personalised learning plans and individual support strategies
  • Promote high expectations for attendance, behaviour and achievement
  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Requirements

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, SEND, or within alternative provision settings
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Be able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Have a flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning
  • Be committed to supporting students' academic progress and emotional wellbeing
  • Possess strong communication and organisational skills
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide references covering recent employment history
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service
