Justteachers is seeking an enthusiastic and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Shepshed from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education, develop positive learning behaviours and achieve their individual goals within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Job Responsibility
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of learners with SEMH needs
Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and wellbeing
Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust
Support pupils in developing emotional resilience, self-confidence and social skills
Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate a range of learning abilities and behavioural needs
Assess, monitor and record student progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for development
Work collaboratively with support staff, pastoral teams, parents and external agencies
Contribute to personalised learning plans and individual support strategies
Promote high expectations for attendance, behaviour and achievement
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
Requirements
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Have experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, SEND, or within alternative provision settings
Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Be able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Have a flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning
Be committed to supporting students' academic progress and emotional wellbeing
Possess strong communication and organisational skills
Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Provide references covering recent employment history
Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service
