Job Description

We are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teacher to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a progressive and forward‑thinking specialist SEMH school in Tameside. You will be part of a highly committed, supportive team working within a nurturing environment for children aged 4–16, each with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. The role centres on fostering a safe, inclusive and empowering learning environment, where pupils feel valued, understood and supported to achieve personal and academic success. This is a long‑term position with an immediate start, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact from day one.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and targeted support to pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-differentiated lessons informed by individual learning plans and EHCP outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider SEMH team to provide consistent, holistic support
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, contribute to EHCP reviews, and maintain accurate, up-to-date records
  • Establish a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment that promotes trust, emotional security and positive behaviour

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or similar setting (essential)
  • Background in supporting students with SEND, including Autism, SEMH, and other additional needs
  • Ability to stay composed and patient when faced with challenging situations
  • Strong commitment to supporting children's learning and overall development
