Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Colchester. This role isn't just about delivering a curriculum; it's about providing the stability, empathy, and resilience that students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs require to re-engage with learning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading a small class with significant SEMH needs, including those with trauma-related backgrounds or ADHD
  • Designing lessons that prioritise emotional regulation and social skills alongside academic attainment
  • Implementing Trauma Perceptive Practice (TPP) to understand that "behaviour is communication."
  • Utilising the local environment for outdoor learning and community-based activities to build real-world confidence

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A calm, patient demeanor and the ability to remain professional in high-stress situations
  • The skill to pivot a lesson on a dime if a student's emotional state requires a different approach
  • Experience working with multi-agency teams, including educational psychologists and social workers
