We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Colchester. This role isn't just about delivering a curriculum; it's about providing the stability, empathy, and resilience that students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs require to re-engage with learning.
Job Responsibility:
Leading a small class with significant SEMH needs, including those with trauma-related backgrounds or ADHD
Designing lessons that prioritise emotional regulation and social skills alongside academic attainment
Implementing Trauma Perceptive Practice (TPP) to understand that "behaviour is communication."
Utilising the local environment for outdoor learning and community-based activities to build real-world confidence
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A calm, patient demeanor and the ability to remain professional in high-stress situations
The skill to pivot a lesson on a dime if a student's emotional state requires a different approach
Experience working with multi-agency teams, including educational psychologists and social workers
