Job Description

We are seeking a committed and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision in Hailsham. This full-time role is a maternity cover position starting in February and working within a supportive Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). You will teach and support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them achieve academic progress and improved wellbeing.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Create a safe, structured and therapeutic learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and external agencies
  • Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies
  • Track pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEMH or within an alternative provision
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Resilient, calm, adaptable and trauma-informed in your approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
