Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Pupil Support Assistant to join a specialist setting in Littlehampton. You will be supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a structured, nurturing and supportive classroom environment, helping them to access learning and develop both academically and emotionally.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide classroom support to pupils within the classroom and wider school environment
  • Deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support
  • Encourage engagement, independence and positive learning behaviours
  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies and support plans
  • Support positive behaviour management using calm and consistent approaches
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, social development and resilience
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

Requirements

  • Experience providing classroom support to children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (or willingness to learn)
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • An understanding of behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation
  • A proactive, reliable and committed attitude
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
