Job Description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the resilience and dedication to work with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) pupils, particularly boys, in a primary school setting? We are seeking a committed and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school team, working closely with pupils who need consistent emotional and behavioral support.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting SEMH boys with learning, regulation, and social skills
  • Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and develop confidence and independence
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to behavior management
  • Confidence working one-to-one and in small groups
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (essential for trial)

  • Care and Safety: Promoting and ensuring the health and safety of pupils, carrying out intimate care and administering medicines to identified individuals (within an agreed safeguarding structure), and, as a last resort, using restrictive physical intervention in line with school policy
