Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide essential and transformative education within a specialist school located in Sussex. This temporary-to-permanent position offers a significant opportunity to be a stable, encouraging mentor for students navigating complex medical needs and behavioural hurdles. We operate a strict no-sponsorship policy; all applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK. Working Hours: Monday-Thursday (08:30-15:30) and Friday (08:30-15:00). (Salary: As per the Main Pay Scale (MPS) - This is a temporary to permanent role after a 12 week probation period)

Job Responsibility

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed emotional and educational support, leading classroom activities and managing a small support team
  • Confidently de-escalate high-pressure situations and manage challenging behaviours with empathy and professional boundaries
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a secure, predictable, and nurturing learning environment
  • Assess, record, and promote student development and learning milestones
  • Deliver high-quality inclusive education as a superior practitioner
  • Apply relational strategies and trauma-informed behavioural support
  • Maintain an analytical approach to student data and reflective professional practice
  • Demonstrate dedication to student welfare, safeguarding, and achieving positive outcomes
