We are working closely with a well-established specialist provision in Portsmouth that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school has built a strong reputation locally for its nurturing approach, smaller class sizes and consistent staffing team – something they are incredibly proud of. They are now looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join them on a long-term basis, supporting pupils who may have experienced disrupted education, trauma, or barriers to learning.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
Helping students regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
Building strong, trusting relationships over time
Supporting behaviour in a calm, consistent and proactive way
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Up-to-date safeguarding training
Nice to have:
Someone resilient, patient and emotionally intelligent
Experience with SEMH, behaviour support, youth work or care is highly desirable
A genuine interest in supporting pupils who need a different approach
