We are seeking a robust, empathetic, and highly skilled Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This is a role for an expert-someone who can walk into a high-pressure environment and provide a calming, grounded presence for students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will be more than a mentor; you will be a specialist who understands trauma-informed practice and can implement bespoke behavioural interventions that keep students engaged and safe.
Job Responsibility:
Crisis Intervention: Confidently manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using approved physical and verbal techniques
Strategic Mentoring: Work 1:1 or in small groups with students to identify triggers and develop personalised "toolkits" for emotional regulation
Liaison: Act as a vital link between the student, teaching staff, and external multi-agency teams
Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of behavioural incidents and positive milestones to inform Annual Reviews and EHCPs
Requirements:
At least 6 months of recent experience specifically within an SEMH, Alternative Provision, or PRU setting
Up-to-date training in physical intervention (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.)
High levels of emotional intelligence, resilience, and a "thick skin"
Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable youth
Punctuality for 8 AM start
What we offer:
Fixed Hours: A consistent 08:00 - 16:00 schedule, allowing for a better work-life balance
Team Support: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, SENCOs, and experienced support staff
Impact: The opportunity to see the direct results of your work as students move from crisis to stability
