Job Description

Justteachers are recruiting a committed 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil within a well‑established specialist school in Urmston. This nurturing provision works with children aged 4–11 who present with a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health needs, offering a supportive and highly inclusive environment. This position is short‑term and temporary, with an immediate start.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that nurture emotional wellbeing
  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and social skills
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to implement personalised support strategies
  • Assist with de-escalation and lead restorative conversations when needed

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or similar setting (essential)
  • Background in supporting students with SEND, including Autism, SEMH, and other additional needs
  • Ability to stay composed and patient when faced with challenging situations
  • Strong commitment to supporting children’s learning and overall development
