Job Description:

We are now seeking a Security Team Leader to join our dedicated security team. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring the safety, wellbeing and performance of our Security Officers while upholding the highest standards of visitor care and operational excellence. As a Security Team Leader, you will play a vital part in shaping the daily experience of both staff and visitors, driving professionalism, vigilance and exceptional service across the museum.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of Security Officers to deliver safe, effective and professional operations
  • Oversee daily security activity including patrols, access control, incident management and emergency response
  • Ensure all duties—core and ad‑hoc—are appropriately staffed through effective workforce coordination
  • Conduct performance monitoring, appraisals and regular feedback to maintain high standards
  • Support training, mentoring and development initiatives to enhance team capability and confidence
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, museum policies and risk‑management procedures
  • Promote a positive, supportive working environment that prioritises staff wellbeing
  • Balance robust security practices with excellent visitor service, ensuring a safe and welcoming experience for all

Requirements:

  • Proven supervisory or management experience within security, facilities or a public‑facing environment
  • Strong leadership and people‑management skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams
  • Solid understanding of security operations, health and safety legislation and emergency procedures
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making and conflict‑resolution abilities
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and reliability
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
  • A valid front‑line SIA and CCTV license
