The Security Specialist supports the Resources Directorate (SQR) by providing security assistance and support to maintain the security accreditation of applicable facilities, conducting personnel security actions, conducting security reviews in accordance with (IAW) applicable security classification guides, maintaining proper information systems security, identifying and correcting security issues, and complying with relevant industrial security guidance.
Job Responsibility:
Manage daily Special Access Program (SAP) operations
Implement and execute all Government security directives as applicable
Ensure the organization maintains compliance with SAP security requirements per Department of Defense (DoD) SAP manuals and Air Force Instructions
Prepare and process personnel security requests through appropriate approval authorities
Ensure SCIF's physical security continues to comply with standards and directives for CSA certification and accreditation
Ensuring compliance with special communication standards of SAP facilities and information
Investigate security incidents, conduct risk analysis, and prepare written reports that identify contributing factors and specify preventive actions
Provide classification management and classification marking guidance as needed
Generate electronic program access requests (ePARs) to include collecting personnel security questionnaires (PSQs) and supporting template documents
Support initial security eligibility determinations using Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and/or PSQs in accordance with applicable policies
Assist nominated candidates with any questions regarding SAP forms, request missing information, assist with the coordination of letters of compelling need (LOCN) and route ePARs for review and approval
Maintain JADE records for cleared personnel, input SCI caveats, update annual PSQ and security training dates
Prepare Program Indoctrination Agreements (SAPIAs), conduct SAP indoctrinations and debriefings
Assist government customer and senior level security staff with maintaining SCIF and SAPF accreditations
Provide classification management and classification marking guidance, as needed
Provide security support for meetings/conferences to include clearing attendee lists prior to meetings and checking attendees at the meetings or teleconferences
Control transfer, storage, management, duplication, and destruction of classified information to include coordinating the physical transfer of classified materials between geographically separated facilities, and training staff on appropriate procedures for couriering classified documents
Ensure compliance with special communications standards within a secure facility
Prepare requests for initial SCI indoctrinations
Prepare and process visit requests for travelers to and from the organization as well as for foreign travel
Support the Government in the drafting, routing, and submission of DD Form 254s
Interacts with various Government agencies and all levels of staff concerning security issues and assists with other duties as needed (escort, briefing preparation, entry control)
Requirements:
Experience complying with Air Force, Department of Defense, NISPOM, DCIDs/ICDs, and other applicable government security directives
Experience with SCI, SAP, and COMSEC programs
Experience with the Government classified contract process
Experience with clearance processing, document control, physical security, including closed areas and SCIFs, and Automated Information System security
Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, work and deliver independently
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills
High School Diploma, plus 7 - 15 yrs applicable experience in an Engineering, Scientific, Business, Analysis, Policy, Communications, or Planning field related to Defense Space
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Defense Space and National Security Space in the areas of policy, strategy, requirements, capabilities, architectures, programs, acquisition, and operations
Familiarity with civil, commercial and international space capabilities
Experience with AFSPC, SMC, NRO, NASA, NOAA
