Makes rounds of assigned area at least three times during the shift, appropriately documents and verbally reports discrepancies. Sustains attentiveness. Promptly responds to all emergencies, knows locations of call boxes and fire extinguishers, coordinates with other officers, checks IDs and passes. Courteously assists all persons seeking directions, information or assistance.

Responds punctually to all assignments and immediately to all emergencies
Monitors alarms and CCTV
Performs duty of Public Safety Officer (non-arrest powers)
Assists supervisory personnel in peace and decorum in building and on grounds
Tickets unauthorized vehicles parked in areas reserved for emergency vehicles, loading zones, handicapped or decal required areas
Escorts persons as required
Detains suspicious persons loitering
Operates two-way radio and responds per the direction of Dispatcher
Informs the relieving officer of all information and concerns of interest or importance
Requirements:
A high school diploma
three years of experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities
Certification by the Department of Public Safety, in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs, unassisted
Ability to lift, drag, pull persons to safety, weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted
Ability to hear and recognize various sounds within noisy background areas
Ability to maintain 20/40 vision in both eyes, corrected
Ability to climb stairs to the top floor of any building within the institution
Olfactory sense must be intact in order to smell unusual odors
Ability to carry heavy objects, i.e. persons, a distance of 15 to 20 feet in emergency situations
Ability to engage in physical confrontations with suspected offenders
Ability to sit
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license
