Security Officer

• Monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors
• Responds to security calls within the medical center
• Conducts basic investigations
• Troubleshooting of the electronic visitor management system
• Physically patrol the perimeter of the medical center and parking lot
• Communicate tactfully with the public

• Must be 21 years of age
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License
• At least 1 year experience in Security or equivalent job functions is preferred but not required
• High School Diploma, and one year of relevant experience (Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counselor, Education, or Military)
• A Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may be substituted for the required work experience
• Must obtain and be able to maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification (IAHSS) within the first year of employment
• Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License
• Ability to perform job functions while standing

• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
• Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.
• Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
• Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected
• Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance
• Ability to match or discriminate between colors
• Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects

• Good peripheral vision capabilities
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
• Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements
