Security Officer

• Monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors
• Monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises
• Guard facility and unit access points, monitor surveillance cameras, test new security technology, and protect all employees/visitors against acts of violence
• Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner
• Respond to calls for assistance including incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or emergency codes, and requests for opening doors
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle
• monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed
• Report unsafe acts or conditions
• Know emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes
• Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed
• investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and write incident reports
• Ensure all activities are logged and incident reports are clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus
• Keep the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront
• Demonstrate professional and technical skills necessary for the role
• Build trust and confidence through respectful and credible interactions

• High School Graduate or equivalent GED and Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement or military service
• or One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
• Security Guard: CA, upon hire
• Driver's License: CA, within 30 Days
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days (American Heart Association)
• Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures
• Completes ICS 100, 200, 700 training courses within 90 Days of hire
• Familiar with the duties and responsibilities of being a security officer
• Knowledgeable in the use of de-escalation techniques
• Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health
• Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing
