As our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors. Every day you will monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises. Your security detail could include guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, testing new security technology, and protecting all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise. To be successful in this role, you’ll need the ability to remain calm and take action based on the situation, known facts, and understand the position limitations. You are also expected to respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Job Responsibility
Monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors
Monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises
Guard facility and unit access points, monitor surveillance cameras, test new security technology, and protect all employees/visitors against acts of violence
Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner
Respond to calls for assistance including incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or emergency codes, and requests for opening doors
Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle
monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed
Report unsafe acts or conditions
Know emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes
Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed
investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and write incident reports
Ensure all activities are logged and incident reports are clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner
Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus
Keep the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront
Demonstrate professional and technical skills necessary for the role

Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent GED and Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement or military service
or One (1) year experience as a Security Officer
Security Guard: CA, upon hire
Driver's License: CA, within 30 Days
Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days (American Heart Association)
Able to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures
Completes ICS 100, 200, 700 training courses within 90 Days of hire
Familiar with the duties and responsibilities of being a security officer
Knowledgeable in the use of de-escalation techniques
Maintain all other required training/certifications thereafter while employed by CommonSpirit Health
Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing
