Job Description

The Security Officer reports to the Medical Center Security Manager. Under general supervision, the Security Officer monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors. Ability to communicate tactfully with the general public. Knowledge of methods of security in buildings and grounds institution. Performs routine and repetitive duties following clearly prescribed standards and practices as set forth by the Manager of Hospital Security. Work involves shift work and some overtime. Must be able to use tact and communicate clearly with public.

Job Responsibility

  • Assisting CTM with Badge access
  • Reports to the Medical Center Security Manager
  • Monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors
  • Performs routine and repetitive duties following clearly prescribed standards and practices as set forth by the Manager of Hospital Security

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent, and 1 year of experience
  • High School Diploma, and one year of relevant experience (Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counselor, Education, or Military)
  • Must obtain and be able to maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification (IAHSS) within the first year of employment
  • Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License

Nice to have

A Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may be substituted for the required work experience

  • Record the entry and exit of delivery whilst on site, including processing of paperwork in line with site quality procedures
  • To ensure that patrols are carried out and to the correct standards
  • Set and unset primary and secondary alarm security systems for out of hours security provision if applicable
  • Comply with site waste management procedures
  • Complete documents as required including daily occurrence log, shift handover, incident/accident records and any site-specific reports
  • Ensure you are familiar with Assignment Instructions, Risk Assessments, and other quality & safety documents
  • advise Corps Duty Manager and/or client personnel on any changes or recommendations to improve
  • Maintain your own training records via Corps Colleague Portal such that your skills remain up to date, and in particular your first aid and fire marshal training is in accordance with legislative guidelines
