What we are we looking for Skills: Hyper-V expert (alternative: VMware ESXi) Windows Administration expert Scripting and coding experience for Hyper-V automation Advanced security knowledge, especially regarding system hardening Experience with network devices (switches, routers, firewalls) Basic knowledge of database handling would be a plus Advanced Python skills for security testing automation would be a plus Structured and conscientious way of working is mandatory How You'll Make an Impact Administration and maintenance of a virtualized test environment (Hyper-V) serving as the technical foundation for critical infrastructure projects in energy systems (HVDC, FACTS), including: Install, configure, and maintain virtual machines, operating systems, and applications within the test environment Install and configure physical and virtual network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls Monitor system and network performance to identify and predict problems and make proactive adjustments Manage the full lifecycle of virtualization and network components in alignment with cybersecurity guidelines and mandatory patching activities Maintain and manage backup and recovery processes for the test environment Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the Hyper-V environment and connected network infrastructure Administer and maintain security applications within the test environment, including endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning tools, and access control systems Provide technical support and create documentation for Hyper-V processes, network configurations, and security procedures Track technical developments and technological trends in IT and OT security; continuously expand know-how relevant to energy system test environments Create and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures for responding to major outages affecting the test infrastructure Identify, assess, and remediate security issues as they arise; implement and refine system hardening measures across the environment What You Bring MSc degree in computer science or electrical engineering, ideally with a focus on IT, security, automation, or software development - or comparable education and professional training with additional qualifications Proven hands-on experience in IT or system administration (Windows mandatory; Linux experience a strong plus; macOS is a plus) Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, with focus on Hyper-V and/or VMware ESXi Solid experience with physical and virtual network infrastructure - configuration and administration of switches, routers, and firewalls Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) Scripting experience with common languages such as Bash and Python; experience with PowerShell for Windows/Hyper-V automation is a plus Ability to work in a self-guided and result-oriented way, with a clear drive to become a recognized technical expert in your area Proficient in spoken and written English; German is a plus
