The security manager, working closely with Brown University DPS will be responsible for managing and overseeing the security of Brown RISD Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, ensuring that all personnel and assets are protected from threats. This individual will be responsible for implementing and developing security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and monitoring security operations and working with relevant third parties within Brown University and beyond.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee the security of Brown RISD Hillel
Implement and develop security policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Monitor security operations and work with relevant third parties
Oversee all daily security operations, including monitoring security systems (CCTV, alarms)
Manage and schedule security personnel and contractors
Enforce entry procedures, access control, and emergency response protocols
Serve as the primary point of contact for all security matters
Liaise with students, faculty, staff, and external authorities
Develop and maintain security policies
Attend regular briefings and provide updates to leadership
Respond to and investigate incidents
Conduct security drills and audits
Ensure incidents are properly documented and reported
Greet and monitor all visitors
Inspect packages and materials
Conduct routine facility inspections
Respond to and report building issues
Foster a sense of security and trust
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Management, or Public Administration
Four to six years of experience in a security or law enforcement-related field
Proven background in security management
Strong interpersonal skills
Proactive and strategic mindset toward campus safety
Excellent observational skills and sound judgment
Collaborative spirit
Familiarity with or willingness to learn the culture of Jewish life and a pluralistic Hillel environment
High degree of organizational and technical proficiency
Comfort using and monitoring security technology (CCTV, alarms, access control systems)
Strong recordkeeping skills
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed
A criminal and education background check satisfactory to the University is required
