As a Security Officer - MetroLink in St. Clair County, IL, Working in conjunction with a Metropolitan Transit Task Force and our client security teams. MetroLink security professionals provide safety and security of riders on the transit light rail system, station platforms throughout the Greater St. Louis region. Customer service skills are a high priority. This is an outdoor posted position. At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
Job Responsibility:
Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and following site-specific policies, as well as responding to emergency situations when appropriate
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner
Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential issues
Observe and report any security-related incidents, hazards, or suspicious activity to the appropriate personnel
Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency responders as needed during incidents at the location
Maintain a visible presence to help to deter unwanted behavior and provide a sense of security-related support for employees and visitors
Provide safety and security of riders on the transit light rail system, station platforms throughout the Greater St. Louis region
Duties will include post security until relieved
Requirements:
A minimum of three years combined law enforcement, military, or security-related experience or a college degree is required
At least one year of security-related experience is required
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only
Each candidate must have achieved at least one of the following to qualify: Military service that included law enforcement or security duties (e.g., military police, elite military forces, and combat arms) or support in a combat zone
Eight years' active service in any military branch
Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice
Associate degree in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service
Graduation from a certified public safety academy in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting
Nice to have:
The ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred
