The Securities & Derivatives Sr Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for providing full ownership of processing orders and transactions originating from Trading Desks and other Business units. The overall objective of this role is to facilitate seamless clearance, settlement and investigation of client securities and derivatives transactions and take a lead of ongoing project initiatives, both internal and cross departmental.
Job Responsibility:
Resolve complex settlement process challenges which require an in-depth evaluation of basic securities processing procedures and industry standards
Execute seamless settlement of securities and derivatives transactions
Reconcile settlement positions and resolve discrepancies promptly, liaising with internal departments (e.g., front office, operations, legal, compliance) and external counterparties (e.g., brokers, custodians, clearing houses)
Participate in testing and leading an implementation of new systems, processes, and initiatives related to securities settlement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce risk within the settlement function
Provide subject matter expertise and support to junior analysts, assisting with complex issues and training
Serve as an analytical and procedural expert, and as first point of escalation for management and internal/external clients
Identify control gaps during settlement cycle and implements appropriate solutions to mitigate any risk or control losses
Prepare and analyze settlement reports, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Requirements:
5-8 years of relevant experience
In-depth knowledge of global securities markets, settlement mechanics, and industry regulations (e.g., T+2 settlement, DTC, Euroclear, Clearstream)
Strong understanding of various financial products including Equities, ETFs, Bonds, Listed Options, and other Derivatives
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Proven experience in a senior or lead role preferred, demonstrating leadership potential and the ability to mentor junior staff
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions
High level of integrity and ethical conduct
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
