Job Description:

Secondary Teaching Assistant | Academic & Pastoral Support | Local Secondary Schools. A Career Built on Mentorship, Not Just Supervision. We are seeking dedicated Secondary Support Assistants to work across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This role is the perfect foundation for future teachers, social workers, or educational psychologists who want to gain "boots-on-the-ground" experience in a fast-paced secondary environment.

Job Responsibility:

Targeted Interventions: Lead small "breakout" groups or 1:1 sessions for students needing extra support with literacy, numeracy, or specific subject coursework
In-Class Support: Work alongside subject teachers to manage classroom dynamics, ensuring students with additional needs (SEND) can access the lesson
Pastoral Care: Assist with emotional regulation and social skills, helping students navigate complexities of secondary school life
Exam Access Support: Act as a reader or scribe for students during mock exams and assessments

Requirements:

Strong Communicator: explain difficult ideas simply and build professional rapport with students aged 11-16
Relevant Experience: from a school, university tutoring, sports coaching, or volunteering with youth groups
Proactive & Resilient: handle high-energy environment and stay calm under pressure
Committed: hold an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply) and 100% dedicated to Safeguarding and student welfare
