Job Description:

Secondary Teaching Assistant at a high-achieving secondary academy in Erith, part of a leading educational federation with 'Outstanding' reputation. The role involves supporting learning, inclusion, behaviour management, teacher collaboration, and mentorship.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting Learning: Working 1:1 or with small groups of students to help them access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning
  • Inclusion & SEND: Assisting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring they are fully integrated into academy life
  • Behaviour for Learning: Implementing the academy's positive behaviour policies to maintain a focused and nurturing classroom environment
  • Teacher Collaboration: Assisting the Lead Teacher with resource preparation, progress tracking, and delivering targeted interventions in core subjects like Literacy and Numeracy
  • Mentorship: Acting as a positive role model, fostering resilience, and encouraging students to take pride in their work

Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent is preferred
  • strong GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) are essential
  • previous experience working with young people (aged 11-18) in an educational, coaching, or youth-work setting
  • a patient, adaptable, and 'can-do' attitude with a commitment to the safety and well-being of all students
  • excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents alike
