Job Description

Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT) – Flexible supply roles, day-to-day and short-term opportunities. These flexible opportunities are ideal for a Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT) who enjoys variety and wants to build confidence across a range of secondary school settings. Working on supply allows a Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT) to gain valuable classroom experience, strengthen behaviour management skills, and make a positive impact while teaching across different subjects and year groups. This role is particularly well suited to early career teachers looking to broaden their experience and develop their practice in a supportive and flexible way.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons confidently across a range of secondary subjects
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities
  • Follow school behaviour policies, routines, and safeguarding procedures
  • Ensure continuity of learning and keep pupils engaged throughout the school day
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and professionally
  • Provide clear feedback and handover notes for permanent staff
  • Represent Step Teachers professionally while working as a Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT)

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status, suitable for Early Career Teachers
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and developing as a Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT)
  • Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils across KS3 and KS4
  • A flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to supply teaching
  • Good classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Willingness to work across different school environments
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • A proactive approach to professional development as a Secondary Supply Teacher (ECT)
