Job Description:

Secondary SEND Teacher | Specialist Subject Lead | Local SEN Schools. Join our specialist network as a Secondary SEND Teacher and empower young people to navigate the transition into adulthood. We are seeking Qualified Secondary Teachers (QTS/QTLS) or experienced Primary practitioners ready to transition into Specialist Secondary Provision. In this role, you'll move beyond traditional academic benchmarks to focus on functional literacy, numeracy, and the 'Preparation for Adulthood' framework.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver engaging lessons that translate academic concepts into real-world skills-budgeting, travel training, and workplace communication
  • Use total communication strategies (Makaton, PECS, or AAC) tailored to teenage learners
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language specialists to integrate therapeutic targets into a secondary-appropriate timetable
  • Manage a dedicated team of Learning Support Assistants, fostering a 'low-arousal' and emotionally regulated environment for students with complex needs

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS/QTLS
  • Have experience within a Secondary or specialist setting
  • Have a genuine interest in or experience with Autism (ASC), PMLD, SLD, or SEMH
  • Can manage complex behaviours with a trauma-informed approach
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to apply)
  • Be 100% dedicated to Safeguarding
  • be a SEND Advocate
