Job Description:

Join Our Founding Team: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant. Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people with unique learning needs? We are thrilled to have opened a brand-new SEND Secondary School in September 2025, and we are looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join us at the very start of this journey. Based in Chaldon, Surrey, this school supports students aged 11-16 who require specialised assistance with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing-typically associated with Autism.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting learning: Implementing and adjusting learning activities under the guidance of the Class Teacher to reinforce key concepts
  • Pupil Welfare: Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the positive wellbeing of pupils
  • Behavioural Support: Promoting positive behaviour and concentration levels, adapting your responses to meet the individual needs of the child
  • Personal Development: Encouraging independence and supporting pupils' cognitive, social, and emotional growth
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and parents/carers to follow a 'Waking Day Curriculum' approach

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Level 2)
  • Level 2 award in supporting teaching and learning (or a willingness to work toward one)
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Competent ICT ability
  • Resilience to meet physical demands of a busy school environment
