Job Description:

Are you a passionate, adaptable Secondary SEN Teacher looking for flexible work in Northumberland? We’re working closely with a well-established specialist school that supports students aged 11–16 with a wide range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, social anxiety and some challenging behaviours. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference while maintaining work-life balance on a supply basis. As a supply SEN Teacher, you will cover lessons across various subjects, supporting students within a specialist educational setting. You’ll work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver engaging and accessible lessons across the secondary curriculum
  • Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of students with SEND
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCo and wider school staff
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Provide consistent routines and structure to learners with high levels of need
  • Maintain a safe, calm and respectful classroom environment

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching or supporting learners with special educational needs
  • Comfortable teaching a range of subjects at secondary level
  • Resilient, calm and compassionate approach
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Able to work between 8:30am and 3:30pm on an ad hoc basis
