Are you a passionate, adaptable Secondary SEN Teacher looking for flexible work in Northumberland? We’re working closely with a well-established specialist school that supports students aged 11–16 with a wide range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, social anxiety and some challenging behaviours. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference while maintaining work-life balance on a supply basis. As a supply SEN Teacher, you will cover lessons across various subjects, supporting students within a specialist educational setting. You’ll work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver engaging and accessible lessons across the secondary curriculum
Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of students with SEND
Work collaboratively with the SENCo and wider school staff
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Provide consistent routines and structure to learners with high levels of need
Maintain a safe, calm and respectful classroom environment
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching or supporting learners with special educational needs
Comfortable teaching a range of subjects at secondary level
Resilient, calm and compassionate approach
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Able to work between 8:30am and 3:30pm on an ad hoc basis
