We are recruiting dedicated SEN Secondary Teachers for daily and long-term roles at wonderful specialist schools, academy trusts, and alternative provisions across Cambridge and the surrounding area. This is a fantastic opportunity to step away from mainstream pressures and focus on truly child-centred learning, supporting young people with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD).
Job Responsibility
Deliver pre-planned lessons and support consistent class teams across the secondary age range without the burden of ongoing planning, marking, or parents' evenings
Lead a class group, adapt the secondary curriculum to meet specific sensory and cognitive levels, and build deeply meaningful relationships with pupils and their families
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching within an SEN setting, or a mainstream secondary teacher with a strong background in differentiation and a passion for transitioning into specialist sectors
Excellent behaviour management skills, utilising a calm, nurturing, and positive de-escalation approach
The ability to adapt secondary subject content to meet individual education plans (IEPs) and varying communication styles (such as PECS or Makaton, though not essential)
A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
