Job Description

Justteachers is currently recruiting for a nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in Warwick from September 2026. This full-time position involves working closely with young adults who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges, providing 1:1 and small group support to help them re-engage with education and develop essential life skills. The ideal candidate will have a calm, supportive presence and a genuine passion for working with students who require emotional and behavioural support in a structured and understanding environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, social development, and academic engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement personalised learning plans and behavioural strategies
  • Provide consistent, positive behaviour support and model appropriate communication and coping strategies
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment for all students

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within a specialist provision (highly desirable)
  • A calm, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable learners
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with consistency and understanding
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals
  • Two relevant references, ideally from an educational, care, or youth work background
