Job Description

Are you a professional seeking a dynamic role within an educational environment? We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and assertive individual to join a secondary school setting as a Cover Supervisor. This position is ideal for those who possess strong communication skills and a desire to maintain a purposeful learning environment, without requiring a formal teaching qualification (QTS).

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused on tasks set by the permanent staff
  • Implement the school's behaviour policy with consistency, fostering an orderly and positive atmosphere
  • Provide guidance on pre-set work and assist students with accessing learning materials
  • Accurately register student attendance and provide detailed feedback to returning teachers regarding progress and classroom incidents
  • Act as a professional role model, upholding the institution's values and high expectations

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with groups of young people, whether in youth work, coaching, or school settings
  • Exceptional communication skills and the confidence to manage a secondary classroom
  • A degree is considered advantageous, particularly for candidates pursuing future teacher training
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a flexible approach to working across diverse subject areas
