Job Responsibility:
Classroom Leadership: Oversee lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring students remain on-task with work set by the department
Behaviour Management: Confidently implement each school's specific behaviour policy to maintain a positive and orderly atmosphere
Student Support: Help students access pre-set materials and stay engaged, providing general guidance without needing to be a subject specialist
Detailed Reporting: Register attendance and leave accurate notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress and student conduct
Professionalism: Adapt quickly to different school environments, acting as a positive role model and upholding high expectations
Requirements:
Confidence: The ability to lead a room and manage secondary-age students with a firm but fair approach
Adaptability: The skill to walk into a new school environment and build rapport with students and staff instantly
Experience: Previous work with groups of young people (coaching, youth work, or school support) is highly beneficial
Education: A degree is advantageous, particularly for those considering future teacher training (PGCE/SCITT)
Logistics: As you will be working in various schools across West Sussex, reliability and a proactive approach to travel are essential
