Job Description:

justteachers is looking for a committed and resilient Pastoral Support Officer to join a secondary school in Coalville. This non-teaching role is essential for ensuring that students’ emotional and social barriers to learning are addressed, allowing them to thrive in the classroom. You will act as a key point of contact for students who require extra support, working closely with families and external agencies to ensure every child has the safety net they need.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a caseload of students, providing targeted pastoral support to improve attendance and behaviour
  • Act as a mediator in conflict resolution between students, promoting restorative justice techniques
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external support agencies to coordinate holistic care for vulnerable students
  • Monitor and report on student well-being trends to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Safeguarding Lead
  • Lead small-group sessions on topics such as self-esteem, anger management, and social skills

Requirements:

  • Experience working with teenagers in a pastoral, social work, or youth work capacity
  • A deep understanding of safeguarding procedures and the "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (KCSiE) guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential records
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid Enhanced DBS check
