Job Description

Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Brighton in their search for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Mainstream Teaching Assistant to join their team in September. This is a full-time permanent position supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a mainstream secondary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support student learning, engagement, and wellbeing across a range of subjects.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide in-class support to students across KS3 and KS4 to help them access learning effectively
  • Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and learning resources
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning objectives and encourage progress
  • Support students with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs where required
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm and inclusive learning environment
  • Encourage student confidence, engagement, independence, and participation during lessons
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Support classroom management in line with school policies and expectations
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote student wellbeing at all times.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a secondary school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting students
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Commitment to supporting student progress, wellbeing, and inclusion
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
