To work closely with the campus principal to support secondary teachers 5-12 in improving their skills in order to improve teaching and student learning.
Job Responsibility:
Establish positive and supportive relationships with teachers and administrators
Provide support for new and experienced teachers through coaching, training and mentoring
Facilitate training and coaching in AVID strategies, differentiation, classroom management, effective instruction, assessment of and for learning strategies, technology integration, ELL strategies, and data-driven instruction
Co-teach and model instruction
Collaborate with teams of teachers to support lesson planning and to facilitate the use of student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions
Collaborate with principal and school leadership/improvement teams
Support teachers in implementing continuous improvement of classroom instruction and student learning
Coordinate distribution of district provided instructional materials
Assist in design and implementation of campus and district-level professional development
Attend regular training
Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance to ensure a consistent focus on student learning
Support the mission and vision of the campus and district
Adheres to policies and procedures of the campus and district
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Three years as a secondary teacher required
Two years as an instruction coach preferred
Experience leading teachers such as department head or PLC lead is required
AVID experience required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas Certificate
Generalist 7-12 certification SS and ESL
Knowledge of curriculum implementation including technology integration
Knowledge of effective staff development practices
Knowledge of continuous improvement and evidence of planning and organizational skills
Have communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact effectively with campus staff and parents
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to operate standard computer and software applications, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations
Comfortable learning other online software systems
Ability to structure own time
Management of multiple priorities
Demonstrate a commitment to on-going professional growth
Reflect on own practice.
