Secondary English Teacher | Subject Specialist | Local Secondary Schools Position: Full-Time or Part-Time, Flexible (Term Time Only) Salary: £140 - £233 per day (Weekly Pay - dependent on experience) Start Date: Immediate / Next Term Are you a lover of language with the ability to bring classic and contemporary texts to life? Join our secondary network as an English Teacher and empower students to communicate with confidence, clarity, and creativity. Inspire Through Language: Impact Without the Marking Pile We are seeking Qualified English Teachers (QTS/ECTs) to provide specialist cover across a variety of secondary settings. As a core subject specialist, your expertise is vital. This role allows you to focus on the craft of teaching-leading debates on literature and sharpening writing skills-without the weight of endless essay marking or departmental data tracking.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering everything from Shakespeare and poetry to persuasive writing and spoken language
  • Foster a love for reading and help students master the tools of effective communication
  • Facilitate engaging analysis of fiction and non-fiction, encouraging students to think critically about intent, context, and structural techniques
  • Support Year 11 students with targeted prep for English Language and Literature papers, focusing on essay structure, quote integration, and timing
  • Maintain a vibrant and respectful environment where students feel confident to share their interpretations and participate in class discussions
  • Differentiate tasks on the fly to support students with EAL or SEND, ensuring the curriculum is accessible and challenging for all

Requirements

  • Hold QTS: You have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification
  • Are an English Specialist: You have a degree in English or a closely related field, with a solid grasp of the KS3/KS4 National Curriculum
  • Are a Strong Communicator: You can build rapport with teenagers quickly and use your passion for literature and language to spark their interest
  • Are Committed: You hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to apply) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding
