Job Description:

The British School of Madrid is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Secondary Chemistry Teacher to teach across Key Stage 3, 4 (English National Curriculum) and Key Stage 5 (Bilingual Baccalaureate – BiBac®). The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lessons, support students’ academic and personal development, and contribute to maintaining the school’s Outstanding BSO rating.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Chemistry lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Inspire, motivate and challenge students, ensuring excellent progress and outcomes
  • Use assessment effectively to guide learning and provide meaningful feedback
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and ensure inclusivity
  • Maintain a positive, safe and well-managed learning environment
  • Act as a form tutor, providing high standards of pastoral care and communication
  • Enhance the Chemistry curriculum with practical, real-world scientific experiences
  • Contribute to wider school duties and uphold professional expectations

Requirements:

  • Completed teacher training with relevant experience in a UK, international or bilingual school
  • Recent and relevant professional development in Teaching & Learning
  • Excellent classroom management, differentiation and assessment skills
  • Strong subject expertise in Chemistry and proven ability to deliver high-quality lessons
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline, plus PGCE/QTS (or equivalent)
  • English at first-language or equivalent proficiency and commitment to learning Spanish
