The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals, for temporary employment not to exceed 6 months, for the Du Quoin State Fair summer season. Temporary employees are needed for the following area: Buildings and Grounds. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to work in a constantly changing fast paced environment. Successful candidates will be individuals who can work promptly and efficiently in order to maintain that the DuQuoin State Fair, as well as non-fair events, run effectively. Job Responsibility:
Under immediate supervision, and on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed six months, performs a variety of unskilled manual labor and/or simple clerical duties
Maintains clean, safe and attractive public use areas on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds (DSF)
Sweeps, scrubs and polishes floors for maintenance of the public and non-public buildings on the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds
Moves heavy equipment and office equipment including chairs, desks, filing cabinets
Performs a variety of routine clerical duties
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above
Requirements:
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of elementary school
Prefers elementary knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and practices essential to grounds and building maintenance
Prefers experience with the operation of simple equipment, machinery, and tools
Prefers experience with understanding and following oral and written instructions
Prefers the possession of an appropriate and valid driver's license
Must be able to pass a name-based sex offender registry check
Must be able to work manual labor task for up to 10 hours a day or more
This position may require the possession of a valid driver's license
This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
This position may require the ability to complete a good deal of walking, standing, pushing, and pulling
