Job Description

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Job Responsibility

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
  • Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice
  • Administers medications and treatments
  • monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given
  • Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers
  • identify issues and resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
  • BLS required
  • RN License in state of employment or compact
  • Current ACLS certification required
  • Current PALS certification required
  • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

  • Perform medical surveillance and licensing exams, such as pre-employment, fitness for duty, powered industrial equipment, DOT physicals and OSHA required exams
  • Administering the policies of the occupational medical program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services
  • Utilizing the necessary equipment and supplies necessary to achieve the objectives of the Medical Department and operate within budget guidelines
  • Administering the plant's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
  • Partnering with professional health resources and department supervision to place injured workers into modified/light duty assignments which meet their physical capabilities and promote rehabilitation
  • Interacting with on-site and community physicians, nurses and physical therapists to promote employee health and wellness
  • Stay updated on knowledge of federal, state and local laws/regulations and other best practices applicable to occupational health
  • Collaborates with Safety Team and Risk Management by participating in Global Safety & Health Audit process, and instructing employees in ergonomic and safety education
  • Implements company provided wellness programs and additionally employee health and wellness programs addressing the unique health risks and demographics of the site
